For the most accurate results, the SunEye camera should be held at the height and location of the solar panels. Normally the lowest part of the panel or array should be measured so that the worst case shading is measured. The exact height is normally not so critical, and several inches or one foot of variation is ok. For measuring shade from close up objects such as a chimney, getting the height as close as possible is probably a good idea.
