Occasionally, users of 64-bit Windows OSes are seeing Error Code – 46 and or Error Code – 42 and are unable to complete the licensing process. The Solo server will register the software activation as “successful” and will deduct from their available activations even though the activation was unsuccessful on the user side. Repeated attempts to activate will result in Error Code – 7 messages (no activations left). The solution to the issue is to add to the customer’s available activations and have the user explicitly run the software as administrator when attempting to activate. The easiest way to do this is to right-click the Solmetric SunEye desktop shortcut and select “run as administrator”. The Solo server activation log will correctly identify the computer ID of the machine being activated, so it should be possible to tell if they are installing the license on the same machine that they were having the issue with.
