If the PVA software crashes on launch e.g. “PVA software has stopped working”, most often the issue is a missing Access DB 2007 Engine is absent.  On computers that have Office 2010 or later the PVA installation will not install this component automatically since they may already have a later version of this component. The PVA software requires the 2007 version to run and it has proven effective to install the 2007 version without uninstalling the later version. Direct the customer to use this link: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=23734 and follow the prompts from the Microsoft website. Once finished they can relaunch the PVA program.
